Starting off our bridge projects we first had to create a design in our notebooks. We then had to have the plan
approved by Mr.Ramos.
approved by Mr.Ramos.
Once our idea was approved we then had to draw out the bridge life size on a piece of pink foam.We drew it with special crayons supplied by Mr. Ramos.
This is an Irwin clamp. We use these to keep in place wood that we can't afford to mess up by moving.
Today we continued to work on or bridges when i found something strange. It was a drill standing up sideways, someone had drilled it into the table and left it there. Personally I suspect Billy did it.
Today in class we had a substitute and were unfortunately unable to work further on with our bridges. I think Mr.Ramos should train all the teachers about safety so we can still work even when Mr.Ramos isn't around. All we did was read our Engineering Design notebook.
Today we made the bottom part of our bridge. We took 8ft pieces of wood and glued them together.

Today in Engineering Design I went to Mr. Kalif's room and he fought me how to properly add a photo to weekly. When that was done I returned to class and sanded the sides of our bridge.
Today in Engineering Design we added "support beams" onto our bridge. Pieces of wood that we used to make trusses.
In todays Engineering Design class ,we continued to place our "support beams" on our bridge. When we finished we worked on the other side.
Today we started testing our sides of our bridges. This here is a picture of Billy's that cracked into pieces.
Today we finished half of our bridge. This picture here is of the weight of our half. 4 lbs 1 oz.
Today in Engineering Design we started construction on our other half of our bridge. What you see here is the base that the arc goes on top of.
Today in Engineering Design we started construction on our other arc for our other half of our bridge. We used wooden steaks to keep the wood in place while we setup the arc.
Today we started to make these wooden slabs. These will be what we connect our two sides of our bridge together with.
Today we finished the bottom part of the half. This is what we shall rest our second arc on top of.
Today was a bad day for us in Engineering Design. The arc that we had been making snapped so we had to restart creation.
Today I was given the job of sanding down the excess glue that was left on our bottom half of our second arch. No process of starting a new arch started today.
Today Billy here decided he didn't want to follow a number 1. Not following a number 1 gets you on the red mat of failure.
Today our group asked Mr. Raymos his idea on how we should build our second arch proportional to our first. This Bow and Arrow design is what he suggested.
Today in Engineering Design Mr. Raymos showed us how to make molds out of plastic using a special machine. Our homework for today was to think of something cool to make a mold of.
Today we had a substitute and Mr.Raymos left us instructions to read our Engineering text books. He also told us to take a picture of the last page that we left off on.
Today in Engineering Design we had to start over again on our second arch. This idea was also proposed by Mr. Raymos and no matter what the outcome is we have to use this arch.
Today in Engineering Design I started to cut small sticks of wood to use as braces for our new half of the bridge. You see a picture of the barrel because I got most of the wood from the trash bin. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle
Here you see the new arch that we made. This one looks promising and the bridge is really coming together.
Today we were working on placing the arch on top of its base. The bottom wasn't flush so we took some measurements and glued this little piece of wood to the base, this fills the gap left between the two.
Today in engineering design we watched a group test their bridge. This group had a total of 5 people and their bridge was able to hold their total weight. They signed the board of success and are choosing our next project.
